UFC: Undefeated vs Undefeated – Israel Adesanya vs Paul Costa
The fight between Israel Adesanya and Paul Costa was, according to one report, the first such fight for the UFC title in history. This fight came with high odds on both fighters as they were both undefeated at the time. So, all of those who love to bet on UFC and MMA know what I am talking about. Bookmakers provided the highest UFC fight odds on that fight and we can expect even higher odds if the two decide to play a rematch. Israel Adesanya won the first match but Costa wants a rematch now.
A Fight to Remember
Sometimes in sports betting, there are some data that reveal the size and importance of a sporting event. Those big events are always widely covered and provided with high odds.
In this case, it was a fight organized by the world’s largest MMA promotion, the UFC.
And according to them, there are absolute grounds to call the fight between Israel Adesanya and Paul Costa great, in fact, one of the greatest fights that could be organized at the moment. Namely, something like this happened for the first time in the history of the UFC organization.
Undefeated vs Undefeated
It was a fight for the UFC title in which two fighters, who have recorded only victories in their professional career so far, meet. Adesanya was at 19-0, while Costa was 13-0. The UFC has held a total of 283 title fights so far, making the figure even more fascinating.
In addition, it was only for the second time in history that two fighters who have never been defeated meet in the title fight. So only one was held, and it was a fight held on May 23, 2009, in which Lyoto Machida (at that time 15-0) defeated the champion Rashad Evans (13-0-1), taking away his belt. Evans, as can be seen, still had one draw in his ratio, which makes this the first real fight of two undefeated fighters.
Of course, we must mention that Costa (prior to this one) still had one defeat in his MMA career, but fortunately that defeat did not count to a professional UFC ratio. He was a participant in the third season of the Brazilian Ultimate Fighter, and there he was defeated by Marcio Alexandre Jr. by a judge’s decision after three rounds.
Costa wants a Rematch
Paulo Costa was clearly upset about the behaviour of Israel Adesanya is already asking the UFC to organize a rematch, and along the way, he announces that next time he will be maximally ready to dethrone the current champion.
Namely, Costa claims that he did not see in the Octagon, and therefore was not aware of Adesany’s inappropriate celebration, i.e. the ‘dry hump’ with which he humiliated him while he was still shaken, lying on the floor.
The Brazilian called Israel “human garbage” in a video posted on Instagram, and without further explanation, he also revealed that “something happened before the fight.”
“I came here to talk about the reaction that human garbage did after our fight. I didn’t see it when I was in the cage, but I see it now. I don’t approve of such moves and this has now become personal. No one will and can’t stop me. “I want my rematch. You know I’m waiting for you. Something happened before the fight, I’m not looking for excuses, but I’ll be 100 percent ready to fight him and I’ll make him pay for what he did. I give you my word,” Costa said.
Adesanya, who inflicted the first defeat of his career on the Brazilian, very quickly spoke up with the words: “I can stop you again.”
Given that the champion stopped Costa quite easily and with a break in the second round last weekend, do you think this rematch makes sense?
