Serie A’s Brightest Young Stars
The top-flight in Italian football has always been a breeding ground for young players. The most recent example we can think of is Paul Pogba – he arrived from Manchester United to Juventus for free and established himself as a world-class midfielder during his time in Turin. It seems that Serie A clubs have a knack for recognizing potential when they see it, and the latest batch of youngsters seem especially great.
While on the subject of Serie A, the outright winners are online at www.novibet.co.uk – you can also place a bet on all the possible top scorers where you mind find some of these prospective young players on the list.
Nicolo Zaniolo
When Radja Naingollan moved to Inter from Roma in the summer of 2018, Davide Santon and one other player moved in the other direction. That other player was Nicolo Zaniolo, a relatively unknown player stuck behind Inter’s pecking order. The young midfielder would probably never get his chance in Milan, but Monchi, Roma’s transfer wizard, recognized his potential and brought Italy’s U21 player to Rome.
After initially starting on the bench, Zaniolo has come to life in his last Serie A appearances, most recently opening the scoring for Roma in their last match against touch opponents Torino. Zaniolo played a great match and sparked the interest of many European giants, including Arsenal. However, seeing how he could be the next best thing at Roma, convincing Monchi to sell Zaniolo will be tough.
Patrick Cutrone
Cutrone impressed everyone last year when he bagged a total of 10 goals in 28 appearances. The young Italian forward’s pace and eye for the goal are exceptional, drawing comparisons to the great Filippo Inzaghi.
Although he has miles to go before he reaches the level of Inzaghi, AC Milan’s striker has tons of potential. He’s been in a bit of a slump this season, but as soon as Gonzalo Higuain’s time in AC Milan is over, expect this young player to get his chances.
Cengiz Under
Roma’s wonderkid is only 21 and already hailed as one of the most prospective young talents in football. Under’s been great this year and has earned a place in Roma’s starting 11. If he performs at a high level all season long, expect him to secure a big-money move to some of the biggest European clubs.
Federico Chiesa
Fiorentina’s speedy and crafty winger has been a regular in Florence for 3 seasons already, and he’s only 21. That speaks volumes of his talents, so the interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, and other European giants isn’t surprising at all.
Having already earned 11 senior side appearances, Chiesa is already a well-established name who could make a move to a bigger club soon, with Juventus reportedly very interested in signing the winger. And, when Juventus comes knocking on your door, you answer.
