The Champions League Round of 16 draw has taken place, setting up some exciting matchups for the knockout stage of the competition.

When are the Champions League Last 16 matches?

The first leg matches are scheduled to be played on March 4th and 5th, with the second legs taking place on March 11th and 12th.

How did the round of 16 draw work?

The Champions League Round of 16 draw paired teams based on their league phase ranking. Teams were divided into seeded pairs (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th). These seeded pairs were then drawn against the winners of the knockout phase play-offs.

The draw used four bowls, each containing the names of one seeded pair. Starting with the 7th/8th ranked teams and moving up to the 1st/2nd, one team from each pair was drawn and placed on one side of the bracket, with their partner automatically going on the other side. This process determined which side of the bracket each seeded team would be on.

Generally, the seeded teams play the second leg (return leg) at home.
