Chelsea will be without Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack after they serve one-match bans for their red cards in the 4-2 league defeat to Manchester City.
Brazilian full-back Belletti was sent off for giving away a penalty in the home loss, while Germany captain Michael Ballack received two yellow cards.
Petr Cech is absent with a thigh injury, while Michael Essien (knee) and Portuguese duo Deco and Ricardo Carvalho (knee and thigh) are doubtful.
Stoke will be without defender Ryan Shawcross as he starts a three-match ban for his tackle on Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey.
Fellow defender Andrew Wilkinson is also suspended for the game, while Danny Higginbotham (back) and Matthew Etherington (knee) are doubtful.
